The 13th and 19th therapy visit rule recently released by CMS is causing serious problems to home health agencies in their ability to properly coordinate and schedule therapy visits, specially when more than one discipline is involved.
The new rule, in addition to make the administration of patient/clinicians schedules and coordination of therapist visits so much difficult, can seriously affect the agency’s bottom line, since not complying with the rule would result in payment denial for all visits in the episode.
In an attempt to address this challenge, Home Health Soft has developed a comprehensive set of controls and alerts that will seamlessly enforce compliance, virtually eliminating any possibility of error.
It’s simple and user friendly; as soon as you log into the system, the application warns you by displaying a list of patients that have 13/19 scheduling integrity issues. From here, you may drill down into the patients calendar and correct the scheduling accordingly.
The 13th and 19th visit integrity validation built into the system is much more that simply displaying a counter for each therapy visit. For example; it will block clinicians from entering information when the patients calendar has not correctly been scheduled. Also, on the day of the Evaluation (any discipline), the system will alert the clinician if there is any abnormality.
Alerts from Missed Visits will immediately be generated and will not disappear from screens until the patients calendar has correctly been updated.
